In 1963 he joined the faculty of the medical school, serving as instructor of Psychiatry (1963-65); assistant professor of Psychiatry (1965-69); associate professor of Psychiatry (1969-74); assistant dean for Curriculum (1967-71); and associate dean for Curriculum (1971-73).
